Call to Order
1. Attendance

Minutes: Present:  Carol Vallencourt, District No. 1; Charles Van Zant, Jr., District No. 3; Wayne Bolla, District No. 4; and Lisa Graham, District No. 5.  Superintendent Owens was also present.  Carol Studdard, District No. 2, was absent, attending an out-of-town conference, and Vice Chairman Charles Van Zant presided over the meeting.

2. Review 2008-09 Employee Benefits

Minutes: The overall increase for employee benefits is 6.15%.  Premiums to employees will remain the same for the HMO Basic and Premium Plans, with the school district absorbing the increased costs.  However, there will be a slight increase to employees for the 3rd option which is a High Deductible Health Plan that allows employees to pay a higher deductible and utilize physicians of their choice.
3. Insurance Committee's Recommendation

Minutes: Rob Taylor represented the Insurance Committee.  The committee supports the changes presented in the health benefits plans and Mr. Taylor relayed their recommendation to maintain employee rates at last year's level. 
4. Review 2008-2009 Property, Casualty and Workers' Compensation Insurance Policies

Minutes: 

Tony Abella, Jr. and Craig Fainstein, representatives from Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services, were present to give the renewal report.  Mr. Fainstein reviewed the renewal executive summary which included risk characteristics of the school district, as well as coverage highlights and improvements.  Total cost of insurance policies and fees is $1,531,915, which represents an approximate $325,000 reduction over last year's costs.
